I have a slight obsession with finding unused storage space in any room, especially the nursery. Using under crib storage is one of my favorite nursery hacks!
One spot I always go to when I’m looking for unused space to store extra baby items is under the crib. You can store a bunch of items in this often unused space.
The key to using under crib storage is to keep everything organized and sorted neatly, so you can maintain a clean, uncluttered space.
If you want to hide the storage items, you can always use a crib skirt.
Here are a few ideas to get you started.
What to store under crib
There is a ton of room under the crib that generally goes unused. You can store so many things underneath baby’s crib!
I think under crib storage is best used for all that extra stuff you can’t find a place for – like bulk diapers and wipes or baby blankets.
However, if you’re working with a small nursery, you can use the space under the crib to your advantage by storing literally anything underneath it!
The trick is to use dividers in some way and sort like items together.
Here are some ideas of what you could store under the crib:
- bulk diapers and wipes
- seasonal clothing
- baby’s current clothing in dividers
- changing station supplies, including a roll out changing mat
- diaper genie bags
- breastfeeding supplies
- baby blankets and swaddles
- baby toys and stuffed animals
- baby shoes and accessories
- baby food, bottles, extra supplies
Under Crib Storage Ideas
There are several under crib storage ideas that I’ve found, but my four favorite ways are using baskets, a large plastic bin, a roll out drawer and under bed storage bags.
Let’s dig in a bit deeper.
#1 Use baskets for Under Crib Storage
I like the idea of using several smaller baskets under the crib, because you’re able to sort like items together this way.
You can hide the baskets by using a crib skirt, if you don’t like the site of the baskets.
You can also label each basket, so you can grab exactly what you need.
#2 Large Plastic Bin
Finding under crib storage can be as simple as using a large, shallow plastic bin!
You can store various items this way and if you want to kick your organization up a notch, you can use dividers in the bin as well.
You can store extra diapers, diaper genie bags, bulk wipes and more.
#3 DIY Under Crib Storage Drawer
I’ve seen so many cool DIY options for under crib storage, including rolling and under crib drawers like the one above. This particular under crib trundle was completely built for under $50.
This is a great way to repurpose a drawer from an old dresser. You can store items exactly as you would in a real dresser drawer, drawer dividers and all!
If the crib is on carpeting, you wouldn’t have to even attach wheels to roll it out. It would slide perfectly fine without them.
#4 Under Bed Storage Bag
There are under bed storage bags you can use for under crib storage. You can find these fabric storage bags everywhere and they’r relatively inexpensive.
I think these would be great for extra clothes, baby blankets and things of that nature.
#5 Roll Out Trundle Storage
You can purchase a roll out trundle specifically made to go under cribs. This is a great idea because it can match your crib and blend with the nursery decor.
