What are nursery name signs?
Nursery name signs are personalized signs of either your baby’s initials, full name, or first and middle name. They come in many different styles and designs, so they go with any nursery theme or decorating style.
Why should you add a nursery name sign to the baby’s room?
A personalized sign with baby’s name adds a beautiful focal point to the room. It can really add extra wow to the nursery and be a major element in the nursery’s wall decor.
Plus, your baby’s name sign can transition perfectly into a child’s room.
Also, because a custom nursery name sign is so personalized to your little one, it’s often kept as a keepsake as well.
I’ve often seen custom baby signs at baby showers and they look stunning as part of the decor.
Where do you hang baby name signs?
Because your baby’s name sign is often large and eye-catching, you’ll want to place it in a focal point of the room.
Baby names signs make for the perfect piece to place on the wall behind the baby crib. Usually this will act as an accent wall and will be the first thing someone sees when they enter the nursery. The current trend is to really make this nursery accent wall stand out by painting it an accent color, adding wallpaper to it, or adding board and batten. The nursery name sign is hung right in the middle of this statement wall, which makes it really pop.
Baby name signs also look great hung over the baby’s dresser or changing table, and it looks great here too.
Framed Name Signs
Framed baby signs are great because they add a big pop to the wall you hang it on. They have a bit of a minimalist feel, compared to 3d name signs or signs with accents.
You’ll be able to add baby’s full name to these custom nursery name signs, but people typically add baby’s first name and baby’s middle name.

Both of the above signs are from Rooted Grounded Home. They look beautiful in a rustic, farmhouse feel but would also work perfectly with a boho nursery theme due to the weathered, natural wood. A woodland nursery theme would also pair well with these signs.
This shop allows you to choose both the lettering color and the frame finish, so you can get a custom baby name sign that really fits the nursery’s theme.
Freestanding Nursery Sign
Freestanding nursery name signs allow you to have baby’s name cut out in a certain font without any type of border. These beautiful name sign look perfect right above the crib and really pop against the wall color. You can find these type of nursery signs from various Etsy sellers (as listed below).

You can find the name sign above over at Adorn Studio.

What I like about freestanding name signs is that you can choose to have the letters pretty big to make a bold statement in the room. Usually, you can pick the font and have it custom-made to your liking.
Mixing two different fonts for the first and middle name really catches the eye as well, like the sign above from Hickory Hollow Designs.
Round Baby Name Signs for the Nursery
The most popular baby name signs right now are the round wood name signs that come in different colors options and wood tones. These are great because you can add different colors and accents to really mesh with your nursery’s color scheme or theme.

This round nursery name sign with flowers is gorgeous.
The mixed fonts really pop on this floral nursery name sign.

Here is another nursery name sign with flowers, but these flowers remind me of wildflowers which in itself can be a perfect nursery theme. I love how these flowers border the bottom as well.

The above is a perfect nursery name sign for a girl!
I love the mix of the muted pink against the natural wood tone of this beautiful sign. I think the mix of the font style in each part of the name contrasts great against each other too.

You can find round baby signs made custom to any type of nursery theme.
The above sign would be a perfect addition to an animal or jungle-themed nursery. I also love the planked wood on this sign.

Another popular nursery theme is a space theme and this space name sign would be a great addition to it.

You can also find a round wooden sign a minimal feel.
For example the name sign above focuses just on baby’s first and middle name.
For a bit of detail, however, both the fonts and colors of each name are different. The subtle planks on this sign looks great too. This baby name sign, like most often on Etsy, allows you to choose from various color options.
Boho Wooden Name Signs for the Nursery
The boho nursery is still on trend and it looks like it will stay that way for awhile. The bohemian theme takes earthy, natural colors and pairs it with elements of nature. It’s quite beautiful in a nursery.
You can find nursery name signs to fit the boho theme as well. Look for earthy colors like dark green, rust and neutrals from natural wood tones. Mix them with accents from the earth, like vines or flowers.

Both these boho baby name signs are perfection and would look great in baby’s nursery.
The wood tones are natural and the fonts in the names are gorgeous. The greenery adds a beautiful touch to it as well.

The macrame name sign above is my personal favorite for the boho theme.
Layered Cut Out Name Sign
These baby name signs are one of my favorite styles, because they look amazing on an accent wall. They layered look gives it a bit of depth that makes it stand out.
Another reason to love this style is that they can be custom made to a really large size, if that’s the look you’re going for!

The above sign looks amazing with both the script and serif fonts.
Different Shaped Nursery Name Signs
You can find nursery name signs in all types of shapes and sizes. Here are a few more of my favorite picks with the bestselling shops they come from.

This first name script name sign is perfect. I’ve been seeing this style in more nurseries lately and I love the simplicity of it!

This layered baby name sign is perfect for a jungle or animal-themed nursery.
The layer of adorable animals and greenery give it a pop.

Ahh, this is another floral nursery name sign that I am loving. This half circle name sign stands out from other signs in nurseries!
I absolutely love the script font over the wildflower backdrop. So beautiful! I love how you can choose from different font options that suit your nursery decor when ordering most name signs.
