If you’re looking for an easy Christmas dessert recipe that people will go crazy over, this is the one.

Hot Chocolate Poke Cake
My hot chocolate poke cake starts with a boxed cake mix. No worries though, because no one will ever know! I used Betty Crocker’s Super Moist Chocolate Fudge Cake, but you can really use anything you prefer, or even make one from scratch.

So the first thing you’ll want to do is bake your chocolate cake according to the directions on the box. While it’s baking, you’ll make your marshmallow creme sauce on the stove. You’ll melt a jar of fluff mixed with a couple tablespoons of heavy cream.
Now that your cake is done baking, the fun part begins..
With the end of a wooden spoon, we’re going to poke holes into the chocolate cake. This is going to allow both the marshmallow sauce and hot fudge seep right into the cake.

Then you’ll want to pour your marshmallow sauce over the cake, making certain that it goes into the holes.

Next you’re going to spread your warmed up fudge all over the cake, pressing it down into the holes of the cake as well. This will not look pretty, but we’ll fix that in the next step.

Finally we’re going to spread our cool whip topping mixed with hot cocoa mix all over the top of the cake, then garnish with mini marshmallows and chocolate chips.
